STOOPS STUDY

My name is Yolanda Campbell Lifter and I have begun a one-name study of the surname Stoops. My goal is to identify every individual with this surname who has resided in the United States.

Since much of my information is from compiled records, I am working on obtaining copies of the original records as time (and money) permits. As a genealogist, I realize the importance of citing my sources and I will try to verify each fact.

To begin with, I plan to concentrate on the Stoops from Ohio, and then work on the other states. I have a large amount of Stoops data and it will take me a while to enter it. I will try to update this site at least once a month. I also will be adding tombstone photos in the future.

My 4th great-grandparents were Philip Stoops and Ann McCormick of Rockbridge County, Virginia. Philip was born in New Castle County, Delaware, and served in the Revolutionary War. Members of their families came to southwestern Ohio in the early 1800's.
